The policies and procedures below are all for the intent of creating a learning environment that will succeed for all students. Of course, we can discuss any of them as it pertains to individual students and families.
General policies for Our Tutoring Relationship
Tutoring sessions will typically last 55-65 minutes. The last 5 minutes and first five minutes of each hour will be used for transitioning between students.
Sessions will be scheduled at a mutually agreed-upon time, with 24 hours' notice required for cancellations. Every effort will be made to accommodate last-minute scheduling conflicts, but RockPyle Tutors reserves the right to charge up to the full price for cancellations (less than 24 hours in advance) or missed appointments.
Payment for tutoring services is due in advance for each session, unless a payment plan has been discussed and agreed upon by RockPyle Tutors before the session(s).

If a session needs to be rescheduled or cancelled, the student must provide 24-hour notice. If possible, give as much notice as possible, so that the time can be filled with an On Demand Student
Both the student and the tutor are expected to conduct themselves respectfully and professionally at all times.
Disruptive or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. If such behavior occurs, the tutor reserves the right to terminate the session immediately. If the Library or other tutoring location staff speaks to the tutor about disruptive or loud behavior, it will result in a discussion with the parent.
The tutor is not responsible for the behavior of the student before, during, or after the tutoring session.
In general, The Tutor will maintain confidentiality of all information shared by the student during tutoring sessions. If the Tutor decides that something that occurred or was discussed during the session needs to be discussed with the parent, the tutor will initiate a discussion with the parent. Of course, the parents are the client, and modifications to this policy may be discussed in advance.
The tutor may provide supplemental materials or resources as needed, but the student is responsible for obtaining any required textbooks or materials. If an independent study plan and material is desired, please contact the Tutor to discuss.
In-person tutoring sessions will be held at the Plymouth or Canton Library or other suitable locations. If the designated location is not available, alternatives will be communicated to the parents.
Other than the tutoring session itself, expectations are that communication with the students will include a parent. Setting up a group text is preferred.

I graduated from MIT with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1990. I followed up with an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business in 1995.
My real Educational background, though, comes from my Parents, Wife and Children.
Education was always a priority in my home growing up.
My Father was a Sr. Research Assiciate in Astrophysics at the University of Chicago and the University of Deleware: His work was in developing and measuring Cosmic Rays through a series of Cosmic Ray Detectors deployed around the world. He was also an MIT Grad, graduating with adegree in Physics in 1965 (which was when the *real* physicists were made!). He got his PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Chicago and spent the next 40 years at the University of Chicago and the University of Deleware. He was an incredibly intelligent man, who aided my education through high expectations and a willingness to explain and teach me things I was not picking up at school.
I learned from him how to explain concepts many different ways, how to balance high expectations with accepting of results, and what it looks like to have a real passion for your job.
My Mother spent a career doing Human Resources and Organizational Development. She came to this country from Brazil in 1965 and has been working in her field for over 50 years. After retiring from one of the many Fortune 500 companies that she worked in, she continued her Organization Development work as a consultant, and also pursuing her Doctorate. She received her PhD from Loyola University in 2004, and has continued her work into her 80s. She currently does individual coaching, and is focused on wellness and managing the human side of change. She has always been an inspiration to me because of her drive and big picture thinking. Achieving her PhD as a 60something year old, was a real testimony to her dedication and pursuit of excellence.
My wife and I met and married while both engineers at Ford. She was always a better student than I was and very organized. I learned some of those skills from her, but mostly, I see many students who are advanced in math at young ages develop sloppy habits because they can do most problems in their heads at that age. I push to improve the next generation by having them write down their work, even if they are doing it in their head. This will help them in the future by having a good framework for when the material gets tough.
And finally, my kids, both biological (son, 26 and daughter, 23) and ones that I have worked with. Just like managers when I was working, I believe that I can learn something from every kid that I work with, and am inspired by them to add value to their education where I can.
Math
I have tutored all levels of Math up through Pre-Calculus.
I have been a private tutor for 5 years and have helped many students improve their grades and confidence.
I believe in adapting my teaching style to each student's learning style. I use a variety of techniques and resources to make learning engaging and effective.
After getting settled in and ready for work, we will go over any homework or in-class topics that the student would like to learn or reinforce. Once homework is completed, we will use any remaining time to do additional work in the subject matter or look toward the next section that they will be covering in school. I fund that having been exposed to a math topic prior to seeing it in class, the student will have a deeper engagement with the material and learn some of the subtleties that they may not see if it were their first exposure to the topic.
