Striving to Share the love of Math
I am an MIT-educated, retired mechanical engineer who has embraced tutoring as my next adventure. I have a passion for sharing my love of math and an ability to connect with kids and adults and help them learn the what's and why's of math, instead of just the hows. My best achievements are the 'Aha!' moments, where the concept clicks and the world of math opens up a little bit more for the student. My goal is for everyone I tutor to leave our meeting both better at and feeling better about Math!

RockPyle Tutors is pleased to announce that Melanie Gumz is joining the company
Melanie and I have been friends and colleagues for over 30 years, meeting in Business School at the University of Michigan and working together at Ford in various capacities. When we both left Ford in 2022, we found our way to tutoring and have now decided to join forces to broaden RockPyle Tutors' scope to include Chemistry, while adding to our already impressive Math and Test Prep offerings. Joining together will allow us more flexibility with student coverage and ensure that RockPyle students get all of the support we can provide
Meet Melanie
Melanie holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Chemistry and has worked in both academic and industrial laboratories. She explains material in ways students can genuinely connect with, aligns session topics to the student's curriculum, and brings in real‑life examples of chemistry at work in the world. Her tutoring emphasizes clear problem‑solving strategies that build confidence, deepen understanding, and help students succeed on homework, quizzes, and exams.
